These juicy baked apples are my autumn favorite fruit. This recipe is for whole baked apples, cored and stuffed with a sweet and spice buttery oat mixture, and baked until warm and juicy. Enjoy these warm from the air fryer, served with salted caramel, yoghurt or vanilla ice cream.

This is a comforting and classic treat and they are great, especially on a chilly evening. They really are a no fuss and quick dessert to make!

BAKED APPLES

Prep time: 10 - 15 minutes
Cook time: 9 - 11 minutes

Makes 4

Ingredients

40g unsalted butter

40g packed light brown sugar

½ tsp ground cinnamon

1/8 tsp ground nutmeg

20g rolled oats

4 large apples

2 tbsp chopped nuts (optional)

180ml warm water

Method

In a large bowl, mix together the butter, sugar, spices, oats until combined. Set aside.

Core the apples, about halfway or ¾ down into the apple. Use a small spoon to carefully dig out the core. Place cored apples into a plate, spoon the filling evenly into each apple, filling all the way to the top.

Preheat your airfryer to the ‘Bake’ setting at 190 C. After the airfryer has been preheated, add the apples to the bowl of the machine, pour warm water into the pan around the apples. The water helps the apples from drying out while cooking.

Bake for 9 – 11 minutes or until apples appear slightly soft. Bake longer if you like even softer baked apples.

Remove apples from the airfryer and serve warm with salted caramel, yoghurt or even ice cream. Cover and store leftovers in the fridge for up to 2 days.
